How do you throw things over the wall? :) Earlier today we live-streamed our Holidays episode of #c9d9. (Kalle represented with a Santa hat!) We had the pleasure of hosting an esteemed group of panelists, all of them deploy applications for a living - automatically and continuously - in some of the most demanding organizations (think Financial services, Telco). They got to share with us their tips for tackling some of the most difficult aspects of deployment automation:

1. How to identify dependencies between applications -

From team collaboration, RMP, "Health API", to components that multicast information about themselves and what other components they depend on (see from min 34:40 in this talk by Dan North ).

2. How do you ensure security and provide governance and compliance?

Hear from companies that deal with federal regulations and auditing, financial transactions, etc. - on how they ensure deployments follow the rule book, and that the logs of the processes are auditable. How is each organization using things like version control, CM, automation and communication practices (and some Salmiak )   to ensure visibility, reporting and to enforce access controls.

3. And finally: How do you roll back if things go wrong?
