For the second year in a row, Gartner, has positioned CloudBees as a leader in their Magic Quadrant for Application Release Automation (ARA). We are (understandably) pleased and honored. Gartner’s highly sought-after 2017 Magic Quadrant and Critical Capabilities for ARA considered vendors based on a minimum of three product-related functions, namely 1) Automation 2) Environment Modeling and 3) Release Coordination. From CloudBees’s perspective, these elements support the goal of end-to-end DevOps toolchain orchestration, which can help enable greater release agility, faster time to production, consistent methods for continual deployment, quality through automation and constant feedback loops.
It is our firm belief that one of the most gratifying aspects of the Gartner process is collecting customer feedback during confidential surveys and interviews. We continue to be thankful for all of the customers who took the time to speak with Gartner. Our customers should know about scalability, flexibility and auditability. A major financial services firm is ramping up CloudBees Flow from one business unit to all five, encompassing over 300 applications and 5000 deployments per month. A different services company used CloudBees Flow to eliminate manual steps which reduced their build times from 4 hours to just under 15 minutes, allowing them to iterate more frequently and test more deeply before deploying to their mainframe. A medical billing company used to struggle to produce a compliance report for government auditors. Now, it’s a few clicks and they are on to other things.
“We decided to move off of our 30-year-old mainframe application, responsible for managing over 41 million toll-free numbers in North America. One of many challenges was how to modernize and build a DevOps culture and environment for SOMOS while simultaneously moving to a microservices architecture,” said Gary McKay, Scrum Master at SOMOS. "We chose CloudBees Flow because of its support for both containerized and mainframe workloads, and because it can coordinate delivery of those workloads safely across all our development and production environments. The results have been stunningly positive. ”
We’re already ahead of the game on making improvements to our reporting and analytics capabilities with our unique DevOps Insight Analytics found in version 8.0. Our customers wanted to be able to pull key metrics from any tools being orchestrated as part of the end-to-end delivery process—from user story tracking and build automation to test automation and operations. Now they can. But we aren’t sitting on our laurels. We continue on a 60-day release schedule and have recently announced improvements, specifically:
- Simplified the promotion and usage of approved automation,
- Provided a programmatic way for Developers to onboard applications,
- Increased visibility into deployments and releases across any DevOps toolchain
- Built-in support to simplify Container and Microservices deployments with Kubernetes, Amazon Container Cloud, Google Container Cloud, OpenShift and others
- Not to mention some exciting enhancements to our mainframe capabilities
We are proud to be recognized by Gartner as a leader in the ARA MQ for the second year in a row. This achievement, along with an increasing number of competitive wins, we believe validates the investment we have made across our entire organization to help customers solve the end-to-end software delivery problems organizations face today. We also wish to congratulate the other participants in the Gartner ARA MQ, all of whom contribute to the overall community of learning and tooling that make this ecosystem more diverse, and competitive. *Gartner, Magic Quadrant for Application Release Automation , September 27, 2017 *Gartner, Critical Capabilities for Application Release Automation , September 27, 2017
