Today, Microsoft kicked off its virtual event for developers, Connect(); //2015 . This two-day event includes announcements, demos and insights that illustrate how developers can best employ powerful and flexible tools from Microsoft that embrace today’s open environments. In this morning’s keynote, Microsoft announced the Public Preview of the newVisual Studio Marketplace – the one place to discover and acquire extensions, integrations and subscriptions for the Visual Studio family of products. And CloudBees is proud to be one of the inaugural Visual Studio Team Services extension partners.

Developers leveraging Visual Studio Team Services now have the ability to integrate the CloudBees Jenkins Platform with their Visual Studio accounts and setup continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines for Visual Studio Online Git repositories. With this extension, developers can:

  • trigger Jenkins builds and workflows when pushing code to Visual Studio Team Services Git repositories,

  • leverage multi-branch capabilities for better pre-branch visibility with unique jobs, history and notifications, and

  • automatically create a branch and job when performing a pull request, then delete the branch once the code is merged.

Developers can learn more about the CloudBees Jenkins Platform build and release extension on the Visual Studio Marketplace .

The availability of the CloudBees Jenkins Platform extension on the Visual Studio Marketplace, complemented with our virtual machines on Azure, broadens our offerings to Microsoft developers. On August 10 th, we announced the availability of the CloudBees Jenkins Platform on Azure Marketplace. Developers can use the elasticity of Microsoft Azure to easily provision continuous delivery infrastructures and to interact with Azure Web Apps. Simply provision your virtual machines with the Azure Marketplace images and enter your CloudBees Jenkins Platform license details, or start a free evaluation from the welcome screen of the automatically created Jenkins instance.

These Microsoft solutions, Visual Studio Team Services and Azure, when combined with the continuous integration and continuous delivery capabilities from the CloudBees Jenkins Platform, deliver a very compelling story to developers and operations teams helping them plan, develop and ship better software to market faster. We are excited to be partnering with Microsoft to help developers improve their productivity and we suspect developers, especially Jenkins enthusiasts, will be too.
