In my 15 years here at CloudBees I've seen a LOT of changes, both within the company and in the industry in general. Over that decade and a half, we've changed the game for releasing software with CloudBees Flow and for shortening the build and test cycle with CloudBees Accelerator. Just this past year, we've changed the analytics game with DevOps Foresight. Today, by joining forces with CloudBees, we are changing the game yet again and I couldn't be more excited about it. This will change the game for software delivery the way Peoplesoft changed the game for HR systems, SAP changed the game for ERP, and Salesforce changed the game for CRM. Christina Noren gave some insight into SDM yesterday and you'll be hearing more details from us in the coming months, but first I'd like to talk about why we're doing this and then spend a little time on how Flow and Accelerator fit into the picture.
Why are we doing this?
Software development is the engine of innovation now for everything from web applications to light bulbs to farm equipment to connected vehicles and beyond. Releasing quality software on business demand is more critical than ever. Companies that excel at both will be winners. The combined entity of CloudBees, the leader in Continuous Integration and the #1 sponsor of Jenkins, and CloudBees, the leader in Application Release Orchestration, Continuous Delivery and Release Automation and #1 in all dimensions of the 2018 Forrester Research CDRA Wave Report will together form a DevOps powerhouse in a white-hot market. CloudBees understands the importance of end-to-end automation through Continuous Delivery and Continuous Integration to realize the true promise of DevOps. Together, we are setting a course to connect the software lab to the business. We are taking the magic of CI/CD and extending those practices to every corner of the organization. Marrying together CloudBees’ innovation energy with the existing momentum of CloudBees puts the combined organization in a position to seize the market opportunity that the race to Continuous Everything presents.
How do CloudBees Accelerator and CloudBees Flow fit into the picture?
Build and test cycles that last up to 24 hours, especially static code analysis can hardly be considered ‘continuous.’ CloudBees Accelerator builds upon CloudBees’ core competency by speeding software builds and tests to squeeze critical time out of the CI cycle. We will continue to invest in Accelerator and expand its footprint to include more build and test systems. CloudBees Flow is built for enterprise scale and designed to automate and orchestrate the software development lifecycle all the way through deployment. This strongly complements CloudBees’ shift-left mentality and gives developers and product teams practicing DevOps and IT Operations access to a powerful Application Release Orchestration platform for Continuous Delivery. I’m going enjoy playing this new game. Join us!
