The Shift - October Newsletter

Intelligence for the people building what's next

92% of tech leaders say their AI-generated code is ready for production. 81% say production issues from that code are going up. This month's releases are aimed at closing that gap.

Here’s a quick word from our CEO, Mo Plassnig, on the opportunity in front of us.

What shipped

Approvals from anywhere
See every workflow approval waiting on you in one inbox in CloudBees Unify. Or pull the list on demand from the AI Assistant or any MCP client. You only see approvals you're authorized to act on.

CloudBees Unify MCP, now in the Claude Directory
Install the CloudBees Unify MCP Server from the Claude Directory in Claude Desktop. Then ask "What's blocking the release?" or "What changed since Friday?" from Claude Desktop or Claude Code. Answers come from your CloudBees Unify data. You can turn on only the areas your team uses, such as workflows, security or feature flags.

Jenkins, ready for AI coding agents
Three new CloudBees contributions to Jenkins help you support AI coding tools safely:

  • Build from Cursor: Jenkins picks up code from Cursor the same way it does from GitHub (Cursor Origin Branch Source plugin).
  • Keep secrets out of logs: Short-lived credentials are now masked (ephemeral secrets masking).
  • Control agent access: Coding agents have to authenticate before they can reach Jenkins (MCP Router Authentication).

From the field

“Ripping and replacing simply doesn't work at the enterprise level. We need solutions that complement our existing systems, not conflict with them.”
- Sudhakar Parakala, VP of IT and Applications, Synaptics
“CloudBees is significantly scalable and this enhances complex pipelines and facilitates automation. It has credible compliance mechanisms, which embrace access control and this includes significant integration with all regulatory needs. The app has brilliant vendor support, where users depend on its troubleshooting capabilities.”
- Edoardo Levantino, Firenze Race Team

Worth your time

Chamath Palihapitiya (All-In podcast; 2.4M followers on X) cited our 2026 State of Code Abundance report: 92% of tech leaders are confident their AI-generated code is ready for production, yet 81% say production issues from that code are rising.

Make the case to your team that software delivery is a control problem, not a tooling problem.
