You open CloudBees Unify to check why last night’s build failed. Then someone asks what’s in staging. Then you need to update a component and start a workflow. Each task is small, but each one breaks your focus, and getting back into deep work takes time you don’t get back.
The CloudBees Unify AI Assistant was built to take those interruptions off your plate.
What’s new in the CloudBees Unify AI Assistant
When we launched the CloudBees Unify AI Assistant, it helped you find your way around CloudBees Unify and get answers in plain language. Now it also keeps track of your work, starts troubleshooting from the failure itself, and makes changes in Unify for you. You spend less time jumping between tabs and repeating yourself, and more time on the work that needs your full attention.
Let’s dive into each new action:
Pick up where you left off with Conversation History
Before, a chat ended when your browser session did. If you got pulled away, you lost the chat and had to explain the problem again from the start. Now, your progress is saved, so an interruption doesn’t mean starting over.
Keep several chats going with the AI Assistant and come back to any of them later, even after you refresh the page or close the browser.
Use it when you:
- Start investigating a failure, get pulled into a meeting, and want to continue from the same point afterward
- Need to look up what’s deployed in staging without losing the troubleshooting chat you already have open
- Work on a problem over a few days and want the earlier context in one place
Start troubleshooting from the failure with Diagnose Failed Runs
The slowest part of fixing a failed run is often working out where to start. Before, you had to open the run, dig through logs, and paste what you found into the Assistant before it could help. Now, you start from the failure itself, and the Assistant already has the run’s context.
If you see a failed run, hover over the failure icon and choose Diagnose. The Assistant opens with that run’s details already loaded and helps you work out what went wrong.
Use it when:
- A nightly build failed and you want a starting point before you read through the logs
- A failed run is blocking a merge and you need to triage it quickly
- You’re on call and want to understand a failure in a component you don’t usually work on
Make changes in CloudBees Unify by asking
Getting the answer is only half the job. Before, the Assistant could tell you what to do, but you still had to find the right page and do it yourself. Now you can go from question to finished change in the same chat, and nothing changes until you approve it.
Ask the Assistant to look up data, create or update items, and start workflows in CloudBees Unify. It picks the right tool, shows you the result in the chat, and asks you to confirm before it creates, updates, or deletes anything. You stay in control of every change.
Use it when you need to:
- Look something up: When was the last successful run of the “linux-validation” workflow?
- Configuring feature flags: Create a new flag named
paymentPortal.fastTransferand enable it for all internal users. - Start a workflow: Run the deploy workflow for
checkout-apion the main branch.
These actions use the same CloudBees Unify MCP Server tools that work in Claude Code, ChatGPT, and other AI clients. You don’t need to set anything up to use them in the Assistant. You only need to configure the MCP Server if you want to use these tools in another AI client.
Why use the Assistant built into CloudBees Unify
You could paste logs into a general-purpose AI chat tool. Here's what's different when the Assistant is part of CloudBees Unify:
- It already has the context. It works with your CloudBees Unify data, so you don't have to copy logs, run IDs, or settings into a separate tool.
- It can make the change, not just suggest it. It can update items and run workflows in CloudBees Unify, and it asks you first every time.
- It uses the same tools everywhere. The actions match the CloudBees Unify MCP Server, so they work the same way in the Assistant, Claude Code, or ChatGPT.

FAQs
What is the CloudBees Unify AI Assistant?
The CloudBees Unify AI Assistant is a chat assistant built into the CloudBees Unify interface. It uses large language models (LLMs) so you can work in plain language rather than clicking through menus. Before taking action, the AI Assistant explains what it understood from your request so you can verify it is doing what you intended. After each response, it suggests relevant next actions based on your current page, which you can select to execute immediately.
Does the AI Assistant make changes without my approval?
No. The AI Assistant can create, update and delete resources, but it needs your confirmation before committing any change. Before it acts, it also explains what is understood from your request so you can check it.
Are my AI Assistant conversations saved?
Yes, now with the introduction of the chat history feature these conversations are saved for you to return later. Chat history is saved for up to 90 days, per user and organization. You can delete your prior chats at any time.
Can I use the same actions in Claude Code or ChatGPT?
Yes, you can use the same actions in these two tools through the CloudBees Unify MCP Server.
