JENKINS COMMUNITY - PALO ALTO, CA - October 21, 2013 - The Jenkins Community , the community of developers using the Jenkins CI open source continuous integration (CI) server, today announced that active installations on the Jenkins platform have increased from 48,164 to almost 70,000 from October 1, 2012 - September 30, 2013. The number of new plugins has also grown from 607 to 832 during the same time period. To continue supporting this growth, The Jenkins community will host its Third Annual Bay Area Jenkins User Conference (JUC) on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the Oshman Family Jewish Community Center in Palo Alto, California. With 450 registrations, the conference is sold out. However, Jenkins developers interested in attending JUC can still register for the live streaming option, which nearly 500 additional Jenkins users have already done. Also sold out is a follow-on Jenkins Scalability Summit to be held the following day, October 24, at the CloudBees offices in Los Altos.
The exponential growth of the Jenkins community demonstrates the value development teams are getting from Jenkins in their development processes. Jenkins CI is the leading open source CI server and provides more than 800 plugins to support building and testing virtually any Java-based project. The Jenkins User Conference is dedicated to expanding the skill sets of Jenkins developers to support the ongoing rapid growth of the Jenkins platform.
"Nearly three years, and approaching 150 releases, the growth of both the Jenkins community and the Jenkins project continues at a breakneck pace. Even through this growth, the spirit upon which the project was founded remains strong: welcoming, collaborative and respectful," said Dean Yu, member of the Jenkins governing board. "The Jenkins User Conference, by providing a venue for users and organizations to share their hard-won lessons in using Jenkins to implement continuous integration and continuous delivery, plays an important role to help spread these core principles and fuels the continued growth of Jenkins into the future."
Kohsuke Kawaguchi, Jenkins founder, and elite developer and architect at CloudBees, will deliver the JUC keynote address. "This is the dearest conference for me out of the whole year by far," said Kawaguchi. "It lets people in the community put faces to e-mail addresses and IRC nicknames. It helps us build a sense of getting things done together, as well as an opportunity to celebrate the distance we've come."
Speakers at JUC include Jenkins experts from Cisco, HP, Netflix, Sony Mobile Communications and Yahoo!.
Sponsors include CloudBees, Appvance, Black Diamond Software, BrightRoll, JFrog, LMIT Software (Jenkins Mobi), New Relic, XebiaLabs, ZeroTurnaround, AppDynamics, Confreaks, Liferay and SOASTA. If you are interested in sponsoring future Jenkins User Conferences and would like early notification, please send email to firstname.lastname@example.org .
Though the conference is sold out, Jenkins developers can still register for the live streaming option at: http://www.eventbrite.com/myevent?eid=8328596055
