TeleStax Uses CloudBees Platform to Improve Efficiency and Productivity of Mobicents Open Source Community

CloudBees' Platform as a Service Enables Telecom Solutions Provider to Improve Engagement and Collaboration with Open Source Community while Reducing Costs

WOBURN, MA. - FEBRUARY 12, 2013 - CloudBees, Inc. , the Java Platform as a Service (PaaS) innovation leader, today announced that TeleStax, a supplier of solutions for telecommunications service providers and enterprises, has implemented the CloudBees Platform to facilitate and support development efforts for Mobicents, an open source telecommunications project.

TeleStax's carrier-grade solution, TelScale™, includes a suite of advanced management products built on Mobicents. To lead and maintain community development of Mobicents projects, TeleStax initially utilized an on-premise platform that was phased out. TeleStax then transitioned the project to the CloudBees Platform as a Service (PaaS) to leverage the platform's advanced features. These advanced features include Jenkins continuous integration services to build and test code and ensure the project remains compliant with Java specifications.

"We had two choices - we could build the infrastructure ourselves or use a PaaS solution in the cloud," said Jean Deruelle, co-founder of TeleStax. "Using the CloudBees' Platform we were able to take advantage of an extremely reliable development infrastructure, with greatly reduced costs and low maintenance. With CloudBees' help, we were able to build a solution that's been widely accepted in the community and we have no hassles with having to maintain the infrastructure."

TeleStax's use of the CloudBees Platform has given the Mobicents project new collaboration capabilities for external contributors. For example, previously, contributors weren't allowed access to run jobs. Now, external contributors can access the repository and the community can test updates they make to the code base before the updates go mainstream.

To date, the CloudBees Platform has already resulted in significant benefits for both TeleStax and Mobicents, including the following:

  • Reduction in costs - TeleStax spent 75 percent less than it would have if it had to set up its own development infrastructure in the cloud

  • Increased Efficiency - Turnaround time for bug fixes improved by 20 percent based on utilization of continuous integration with Jenkins in the cloud, on the CloudBees Platform

  • Productivity - Project contributors can now concentrate 100 percent on development instead of maintaining IT infrastructure

  • Support - CloudBees technical experts help to resolve any integration issues that arise

"We're proud to see how TeleStax has been able to streamline its development environment with the use of CloudBees' industry-leading Java PaaS platform," said Sacha Labourey, CEO and founder, CloudBees. "TeleStax can continue to build on its open source base while taking advantage of the reliability and cost benefits that are available in the cloud."
