CloudBees Named A ‘Strong Performer' for Enterprise Public Cloud Platform

Independent Research Firm Recognizes PaaS Platform Provider for Product Execution, Focus on 'Continuous Delivery'

WOBURN, MA. - June 19, 2013 - CloudBees, Inc. , the Java Platform as a Service (PaaS) innovation leader, today announced its position as a "Strong Performer" in The Forrester Wave™: Enterprise Public Cloud Platforms, Q2 2013 report (June 2013). CloudBees was one of 14 most significant vendors that Forrester invited to participate in this rigorous evaluation to assess the state of the public cloud platform market.

Forrester Research, Inc. developed a comprehensive set of 19 criteria grouped into three high-level categories: Current Offering, Strategy and Market Presence. As part of the evaluation, Forrester examined the usage of public cloud platforms from the perspective of different types of developers. CloudBees was named a "Strong Performer" in the Coders, DevOps Pros and Application development and delivery (AD&D) categories.

Enterprise Public Cloud platforms are seen as important tools for application developers as enterprises embrace public clouds. Forrester's research projects that adoption of public clouds by enterprises will cross over the 30 percent mark this year. As such, selecting the right public cloud platform for building, hosting and launching customer-related applications represents "a crucial decision" for enterprises, according to the Forrester report. The authors wrote, "Public cloud platforms are the keys that unlock the flexibility, productivity, and economic advantages of cloud computing. Application development and delivery (AD&D) pros use a wide variety of public cloud platforms, and this Forrester Wave™ evaluates the leading providers of these choices."

In its evaluation of CloudBees, Forrester stated that the company "doubles down on 'continuous delivery' for Java coders." Forrester described CloudBees' platform as a "clever integration of foundry repositories (GitHub), continuous delivery (Jenkins), and widely used open source Java platforms (JBoss Application Server and MySQL). The deployment layer shields coders from the details of the virtual infrastructure it runs on (AWS). CloudBees is growing fast: It has between 10,000 and 99,000 subscribing organizations, of which fewer than 100 are large enterprises."

"We give CloudBees high marks for strong product execution on a good design for a Java cloud platform," the authors wrote. "During the next year, we expect to see CloudBees strengthen its platform, extend its coverage into additional regions, and expand its partner network -- a solid strategy."

For this report, Forrester evaluated the CloudBees Platform. CloudBees offers the first Java PaaS that supports the entire application lifecycle, from development through production. In a process known as Continuous Cloud Delivery, Java developers can quickly and easily create quality software using the CloudBees development services, and once applications are ready developers can instantly deploy them to the cloud using the CloudBees runtime services. The CloudBees Platform utilizes Jenkins in the Cloud to provide support for continuous integration and agile development processes.

"CloudBees continues to make strides in our mission to transform the way Java applications are built and deployed ," said Sacha Labourey, CEO and founder, CloudBees. "We have generated tremendous traction in the marketplace, helping hundreds of customers simplify and accelerate the entire Java application lifecycle, making it easier and faster than ever to build, test and run Java applications . We consider this recognition in the Forrester Enterprise Public Cloud Platform Wave as further validation of our strong growth in this market."
