Track 3: Maximize Developer Productivity with Fast and Reliable Gradle and Maven Builds
One of the biggest impediments to overall developer productivity and the overall success of the software organization is inefficient processes. Without the right tooling to get to the root of the problem, debugging build and test failures is incredibly frustrating and leads to delays in shipping software. In this workshop, you’ll work through examples using Maven, Gradle, and Gradle Enterprise on our real data and that of some popular open source projects. You'll learn how to measure build speed and reliability, which metrics are important, how to apply these analyses to your own builds, and how to use build caching to make those builds dramatically faster enabling your team to achieve better developer productivity.
Hans Dockter & Andres Almiray, Gradle
1:00pm - 2:00pm
Track 2: DevSecOps Workshop: Security at a DevOps Speed
In this Sonatype workshop, attendees will learn how we can provide a Jenkins pipeline to automatically scan and detect, understand and remediate known vulnerable open source components. Attendees will be given a chance to execute an attack against the same CVE that affected Equifax. Then use Sonatype's Intelligence to understand and remediate the vulnerable libraries and verify the attack no longer works.

Track 3: Managing a Complex Multi-tier Jenkins environment: A Practical Approach of using Job DSL and GitOps
In dealing with enterprise complexity, large organizations must empower each team with the necessary autonomy to build, deploy, and maintain the code and applications the team owns in order to maintain velocity and quality. At the same time, organization must prioritize and plan as their applications’ usage grows and needs to be supported by larger environments and additional clusters. Today, there are many great tools available for managing and scaling a CI/CD pipeline. But thanks to a massive amount of plugins and years of creative (ab)use, Jenkins excels in both the mainstream and periphery users. Join Brian Conner, a Solutions Architect at Go2Group, at his session to see how useful tooling like Jenkins Job DSL mixed with concepts from GitOps are able to stretch readily from their relatively simple foundations to support a complex, multi-tier, and multi-team workflow spanning dozens of Jenkins Masters -- all while minimizing manual usage of Jenkins and organizing code and configurations for applications, environments and infrastructure in an automated way. At the end of this session, you will gain insights not only on managing enterprise complexity, but how extension points allow it to fit a multitude of different teams with vastly different internal toolsets and deployment practices -- from legacy to Kubernetes hosted in the cloud, and from basic free OSS Jenkins to Jenkins X, CloudBees Core, or even third party frameworks like Flux by Weaveworks.

This interactive workshop will cover the keys to achieving security at scale throughout your CI/CD pipeline including strong identity and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), security policy, and segregation of security responsibilities. You’ll learn how to use Conjur Open Source and its native Jenkins plugin to help you improve the security of your Jenkins deployment, such as providing granular control over data access, implementing powerful change controls and establishing a clear audit of security activity. Conjur Open Source provides a programable interface and security policy to enforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and to secure secrets, such as access tokens, passwords, certificates, SSH keys, and other credentials. CI/CD and Progressive Delivery: The State of the Industry
A look at today and tomorrow’s technology and process landscape, examining emerging trends, stacks, and approaches such as Kubernetes, DevOps, Just Culture, Resilience Engineering, and Observability. Developers are ever more central to business success, but as developers’ power grows, so should their responsibility. We’ll also examine Progressive Delivery. While Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) has been driving us forward as an industry (and is the basis of everything good in modern software development), it has led to some new associated practices (Canarying, Feature Flags, A/B testing at scale) for which we don’t currently have a basket term. On the technology side, Serverless and Cloud Native technologies such as Kubernetes and Istio bring new management challenges, but also opportunities: cloud-based deployment offers a lot more sophistication in the routing of new application functions to particular user communities.

Track 2: The Death of DevOps
In today's world DevOps continues to gain momentum. As a set of software development practices focusing on people, process and tools, it ubiquitous throughout the IT industry, this isn't exactly news. The term itself dates back eight years with big names such as Google, Amazon, Netflix, and General Motors have made validating investments in it. But how far can it go and is DevOps dying? DevOps practices have become a critical element to the success and survival of companies in this increasingly software driven world. Many industry watchers believe it's no longer a question of if your organisation will adopt these practices, but when. In this talk we explore how the term DevOps is evolving in an ever changing world.

Shipping What Matters: CD, DevOps and Beyond
Riding on the wave of a technical revolution, we’ve entered an era where developers and software professionals are integral drivers for any competitive business. CI, CD, DevOps, Jenkins X, cloud, cloud native and serverless computing are just some of the emerging technologies and practices that free developers from annoying, repetitive work, enabling them to focus on shipping stuff that matters. What's next as CI becomes second nature, and CD a standard practice? What’s the future? Continuous Everything (CE) is an approach where software development becomes fully integrated into your business, driving continuous improvement and collaboration, while getting the other stuff out of your way. Join this session to learn about CE and where the industry is headed.

Track 2: How to Secure Application Secrets in Jenkinsfiles and Safely Deliver Them to Your Jenkins CI/CD Pipeline Without Disrupting Workflow
Jenkins advances developer and operational productivity, but many deployments don’t follow best practices and workflows for running Jenkins securely in an enterprise setting. In building out our own CI/CD pipeline, we've learned a couple tricks to improve security, ease of use, and developer happiness. Security challenges around CI/CD pipelines include unmanaged secrets, master servers with too much privilege, lack of audit and compliance visibility, and disconnected secrets management silos across each of the tools and platforms, such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, Jenkins, AWS, GCP, and Azure. Track 2: Managing a Complex Multi-tier Jenkins environment: A Practical Approach of using Job DSL and GitOps
Join Brian Conner, a Senior DevOps Architect at Go2Group, at his session to see how useful tooling like Jenkins Job DSL mixed with concepts from GitOps are able to stretch readily from their relatively simple foundations to support a complex, multi-tier, and multi-team workflow spanning dozens of Jenkins Masters -- all while minimizing manual usage of Jenkins and organizing code and configurations for applications, environments and infrastructure in an automated way.

Continuously Delivering Legacy Applications Without Sweating
Vistaprint started building and delivering its Monolith - a large legacy codebase - with Cloudbees Jenkins about a year ago. In that time, Monolith delivery has evolved from a homegrown CI/CD platform and dozens of freestyle jobs orchestrated through a "Frankstein Jenkins" to being fully defined as code with custom integrations against AWS and CloudBees Core.
Ahmed will talk about Vistaprint's Jenkins story, DevOOPS moments, key lessons learned, and current challenges.
