DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA) identified key performance metrics to measure software delivery performance in their Accelerate State of DevOps 2018 Report . CloudBees DevOptics surfaces these key metrics around throughput and stability. It lets you see deployment frequency, mean lead time, mean time to recover and change failure rate on the value stream level and the processes within.

However, knowing the metric is not enough. You need to be able to report on them in the tools of your choice to management, see the changes of these metrics over time and correlate those changes to actions and initiatives you as an organization took.

That’s why the “export metrics to CSV” feature in CloudBees DevOptics lets you generate downloadable reports based on these metrics (be it for the whole value stream or specific processes or gates) as part of the value stream, giving you the ability to create reports and analyze your performance over time. Each metrics export is for a specific value stream or gates within. As part of the export, metrics are rolled up per day and you can select the time range you want to look at in detail.

Using CloudBees DevOptics for our own team, we were able to see how deployment frequency increased over time in the last couple of weeks due to breaking down releases into smaller batches. This is one of the best practice highlighted in the DORA State of DevOps report .

We are excited to enhance and advance CloudBees DevOptics capabilities to visualize, measure and understand your ever growing and complex software delivery system and look forward to what is coming next.
