What is role-based access control (RBAC) and how does it help me?

RBAC gives the ability to define security roles and permissions and associate them to a job, project, or folder, as well as the ability to Whitelist and Blacklist projects. RBAC with Folders plugins provide a solution for managing a large Jenkins installation that is shared by multiple teams and users, which ties to existing authentication provider plugins like LDAP.

Save time by setting up sophisticated authorization by roles and not individual users, and really secure your Jenkins environment.

"The role-based access control plugin is a high priority for us because, as an insurance company, we are always looking to improve compliance." -Adam Rates Head of Strategy and Architecture, Allianz

"Because we offer Jenkins as a centralized managed service, our R&D engineers can focus on developing innovative new features instead of spending time administering their CI tools. The Folders and RBAC plugins enable us to provide access to a central Jenkins platform, while keeping each team’s jobs secure and separate." -Adreas Daubner IT Administrator, PepperL+Fuchs

"The team uses the role-based access control plugin to clearly define security roles for each member of the development organization and link those roles to identities managed in the company’s LDAP server. The team created a Java EE Cockpit application that streamlines the process of on-boarding project teams. This application takes advantage of the flexibility of CloudBees Core to automate project onboarding with roles and permissions that ensure separation of duties are addressed and the delivery pipelines remain compliant with regulatory policy." -Strategic Initiatives Manager, Luxury Automaker
