Way back before iOS/iphone had an App Store - all you could do was web apps. Around this time the iUI framework was born, and it was a quick and neat way to do iPhone styled UIs that had the "slide" style of navigation.
This is still around, and is still being used/developed, and works on all the phones!
Sean Gilligan recently came up with a "seed" app - a starting point for people to clone and build from. It has a node.js backend so is javascript all the way.
