io.js voted to join the Node.js Foundation

The technical committee in charge of the io.js group voted yesterday to join the Node.js Foundation, according to VentureBeat.

When the Node.js Foundation launched earlier this year as a method for overseeing the development of the Node.js project, the io.js group didn't join immediately. Kind of a big deal when a number of significant Node contributors are a part of io.js.

io.js TC just voted to join the Node Foundation.

Today's vote means that Node.js and io.js projects will eventually merge, with all subsequent releases being called "node."
