Enterprise Plugins Overview

Jenkins Enterprise by CloudBees provides plugins to help address three main areas typically found in enterprise implementations:

1. Management of large Jenkins implementations
2. Project and/or installation security
3. Resource optimization

  Capture sameness of configuration information in one place that is then propogated

• Validated Merge Plugin
  Solve the issue of broken builds due to bad commits. With this plugin, Jenkins only merges code that does not break the build

• Folders Plugin
  Folders help to create hierarchies or custom taxonomies to better manage large numbers of jobs

• Folders Plus Plugin
  Dedicate slaves to a project/team by restricting slaves to a particular folder.

• Backup Scheduling Plugin
  Use Jenkins to backup Jenkins. No more cron jobs or error-prone custom scripts

• Consolidated Build View Plugin
  Visualize results of downstream jobs that make up an overall project, with ability to navigate to the console log of each job

• Custom Update Center Plugin
  Host your update centers easily. Ensure only "blessed" versions of binaries and plugins are shared between teams

• Nodes Plus Plugin
  Assign slave machine owners, who are then automatically notified of changes in slave machine availability

• Plugin Usage Plugin
  Track usage of plugins. See which jobs are using a particular plugin

• Restart Aborted Builds Plugin
  View and restart jobs after a Jenkins master crash recovery

Security

These plugins help administrators secure their projects and/or installations.

• Role-based Access Control (RBAC) Plugin
  Set-up sophisticated authorization policies to manage Jenkins

• Secure Copy Plugin
  Copy artifacts securely between teams on same or different instances of Jenkins

• WikiText Descriptions Plugin
  Prevent potential XSS attacks due to HTML descriptions in Jenkins

Optimized Utilization

With these plugins, Jenkins administrators can make better use of existing resources, greatly improving build times and reducing costs.

  Change the default slave allocation algorithm of Jenkins to allocate jobs to free machines

• Fast Archiver Plugin
  Faster builds with faster upload of archives from slaves to masters

• Label Throttle Plugin
  Define the bare-metal limits for VMs being used as slaves. This helps in faster runs when multiple builds are running multiple VMs on a single bare-metal machine

• Skip Next Build Plugin
  Stop running builds for a specified period of time (usually if there are known errors that are being fixed)

• VMware ESXi/vSphere Auto-Scaling Plugin
  Better leverage existing VMware resources by using machines in VMware pools as slaves
